Deprivation was created in 2015/2016 during a stressful time during my college years. Due to certain circumstances, I began experiencing sleep deprivation and nightmares. Most of the dreams consisted of being trapped in my mattress or being chased around the house by something that resided under the bed. After the dreams subsided, I created Deprivation as a way to move past it.

In 2018, after reconnecting with my cousin, Caity Arthur, a filmmaker working from Brooklyn, NY, began developing the comic into a film, which premiered and closed out the Mono No Aware Film Festival in 2022.
